Save the Date: Developing a Diamond Open Access Discovery kit

Empty chairs at a conference

Join us for “Developing a Diamond Open Access Discovery Kit”, a one-day event organized by the Diamond Open Access Expertise Centre in collaboration with local universities.

Diamond open access is the non-profit and scholarly-led route of open access that refers to academic texts (such as monographs, edited collections, and journal articles) that are published, distributed, and preserved with no fees to either reader or author

The event aims to bring together librarians and researchers to co-create and develop a national kit that librarians and faculty liaisons, policy advisors, and research support officers can adapt and use to promote awareness of Diamond Open Access options locally. During the day, we will discuss and develop the Diamond OA Discovery Kit elements, such as, for instance, training and information materials for librarians and faculty, tips and tricks on how to evaluate and support Diamond Open Access initiatives, case studies and success stories, strategies to engage with researchers and their needs, tools for advocacy and policy development, Diamond OA journal lists, and templates for institutional use.

The program is structured into three sessions. In the first part, researchers will provide their opinion on the requirements they look for in a journal to submit their research. The second part will consist of two hands-on sessions in which we explore the possible elements of the kit, followed by a session on how to ensure that the kit is used at a local level.

Participation is free of charge. The event is fully funded through the OSNL meeting call grants.
