RSC Gold for Gold ends in 2017

The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) shares since 2012 open access vouchers with subscribing institutions to their complete journal package (Gold for Gold)

The publisher stated in a declaration to stop the current  program in the spring of 2017. The voucher scheme was well used with a global uptake of 8,000 items. In the Netherlands the vouchers were used 420 times during the first half of 2016. In the future RSC wants to concentrate the activities on publishing open access journals. For them this is a more sustainable contribution in the dissemination of open scientific publications.
